One male adult is in police custody in relation to investigations into a suspected homicide which occurred at Silver Lake about 8PM on Wednesday 13 April 2016.
Freddy Claudy Vandal, 17, is the victim of that homicide, Police Public Relations Officer, Pelham Jno Baptiste, reported on Thursday 14 April. Vandal is a dual citizen, who was born in Guadeloupe, but is Dominican by descent.
According to the report, police officers responded to reports of gunshots being fired in the Silver Lake area on Wednesday evening.
“On arrival, the lifeless body of a young male was discovered close to the river. There were several marks of violence on the body including a gunshot wound,” Jno Baptiste said.
The scene was processed by the Crime Scenes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department Vandal was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor. A post mortem will be convened. Investigations are ongoing.
