A young woman of Roseau who had been detained by police in respect to a theft investigation has been charged.
Cheznelle Robinson, who was charged on Monday evening, 18 March 2015, with obtaining property by deception, appeared before a Chief Magistrate Candia Carette George on Thursday 19 March.
According to the charge read in court, Robinson “dishonestly obtained one thousand dollars from the Healthy Wellness Living Centre with the intention of permanently depriving the Healthy Wellness Living Center of the amount”.
The incident reportedly occurred on 11 February 2015.
She was not allowed to enter a plea as the charge is an indictable one to be tried before a judge and jury.
She was granted five thousand dollars ($5000) bail with her mother Margaret Sorhaindo as surety. No special reporting conditions were attached to her bail.
Robinson, who was represented by attorney at law Wayne Norde, is expected to return to court on 31 July 2015.
