Stock Farm, Roseau, April 28, 2020- Ms. Frederica James, Mental Health Counselor at the Dominica State College will address the mental health concerns of students, faculty, and staff in the wake of Covid-19 during a live Facebook interview on the topic ‘Mental Health’, on April 29, 2020, at 9:30 am. The interview will be carried live on the Dominica State College Facebook page.

This upcoming interview allows students, faculty, staff, and members of the public to interact with an expert on mental health with their concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. The interview will address the importance of protecting our mental health; methods for supporting friends and families on the frontline; strategies for dealing with stress and anxiety during the pandemic; and coping strategies for dealing with lockdown and social distancing. At the end of the interview, Ms. James will entertain questions from viewers.

Dominica State College is not only interested in graduating individuals with a high grade point average and ensuring that students give back to the community but the institution is equally interested in graduating individuals who are emotionally stable and capable of making right decisions. For this reason, since the suspension of on-campus classes and the unprecedented COVID-19-related challenges, the counselors and clinical phycologist of the Dominica State College have implemented creative ways to communicate with students, faculty, and staff. To date, content has been shared on their Facebook and Instagram pages, on Orbund (student information system) and in their WhatsApp groups.

The institution encourages students, staff, faculty, and members of the public to take advantage of this free counseling service and continue to adhere to the guideline of the Ministry of Health.
