The Dominica Cancer Society will be going to Portsmouth this weekend to give thanks and to establish a support group for the north.
President Yvonne Alexander disclosed the news to Dominica Vibes.
She says ahead of world cancer day on Tuesday, the advocacy group will take some time to give god thanks this Sunday, February 2nd.
“We would like to take the opportunity to give God thanks for those of us who were lucky or blessed enough to be diagnosed early and survived,” she said.
“We have sent out invitations,” Alexander adds, “to meet cancer survivors and their families for a Meet & Greet to interact with them after the mas. We want to encourage the formation of a cancer support group in the north.”
The non-profit group solicits the usual cash support from the public which will be used to continue its all-important work caring for cancer patients with limited resources.
“Purchase a pin for a contribution of $10 or t-shirt for $20 and help raise awareness,” she urges.
World Cancer Day is February 4th.
