The National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD) is being represented in Trinidad this week at the 6th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ summit.
The objective is to ultimately realise more active youth participation in sustainable development as per unsustainable development goal number 8.
From Jan 21st to 23rd, youth advocates and young leaders will be engaged in discussion to develop a framework to position young people as partners in creating sustainable solutions to development challenges.
The interim president of Dominica’s National Youth Council, Kerdisha St Louis is in Trinidad.
In an interview with Dominica Vibes, she said, “Thank you to the young people of Dominica for putting NYC in such a strategic place that we will be able to get involved in things like this. We appreciate the trust and commitment of the young people of Dominica and we look forward to serving them more and bringing more projects and programs to benefit young people.”
She insists, “At the end of the day that’s what the National Youth Council is all about.”
The summit is organised by the Caribbean Regional Youth Council and is themed, ‘Promoting Youth Economic Empowerment – Building Synergies Towards Sustainable Caribbean Development’.
