Monday 7th October marks the beginning of History Week, under the theme, ‘Heritage Sites of Dominica.’
Chief Cultural Officer, Raymond Lawrence highlighted that many areas across the island have traditional significance.
Lawrence hopes the public will make some time to visit and appreciate these heritage sites.
“We are encouraging the general public to help to visit, even to help clean or restore or beautify our heritage sites in Dominica. To show greater appreciation for these sites.”
Lawrence also noted that schools have been encouraged to plan field trips and lectures so children can better appreciate their country’s history.
“A lecture by Historian Lennox Honychurch on Wednesday October 9th at UWI Open Campus starts at 7pm. The theme for the lecture is Heritage Sites of Dominica.”
