Influential Kalinagos awarded and recognized during the Kalinago Week Award Ceremony

Over twenty prominent and influential Kalinago individuals, organizations, associations and businesses were recognized during the Kalinago Week Award Ceremony which was held last evening in the Kalinago Territory.

Kalinago Cultural Officer, Prosper Paris mentioned that the celebrations of Kalinago Week, was put on hold for the past two years due to the pandemic, but one of the celebrations that they wanted to do this year, was to have this award ceremony.

The category of awardees spanned from Cultural contributions, Education, Sports, Health, etc. and included awardees such as: the Kalinago Sports Committee, Sandrine Francis, Nia Belle, Patsy Thomas, Edese Dorsette, Dr. Theodore Thomas, Dr. Korak Frederick, Dr. Mickey Ellick, Verna Auguiste, Cecilia Benjamin, Marcelin Eustache, Augustine Charles, St. John Stoute, Tilou Kanawa by Natasha Green (Small Business), Gian Benjamin, The Karina Cultural Group, The Karifuna Cultural Group, Paulinus Frederick, Prosper Paris, Shaman Gerald Langlais, Philbert Valmond, Mrs. Magaret Auguiste, Austin Cyrille, Hon. Cozier Frederick, the Sineku Development Committee, Anthony Lucien, Mrs. Sylvanie Burton.

The Kalinago Cultural Officer encouraged other Kalinagos to emulate the great characteristics of the awardees.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Kalinago Upliftment and the Parliamentary Representative of the Salybia Constituency, Hon. Cozier Frederick, spoke on how happy he was that this ceremony took place highlighting the great achievements and contributions the awardees have made to the Kalinago Territory.

He stated that their contributions, achievements and biographies should be known by everyone.
