At least one death reported in aftermath of TS Fiona in Guadeloupe

SOURCE: Loop Caribbean News–There has been heavy flooding and at least one reported death in Guadeloupe following the passage of Tropical Storm Fiona on Friday night.

Reports out of the island said the body of a man was found on Saturday morning in Rivière des Pères. The victim is said to have been swept away with his house when the river flooded.

Photos and videos on social media showed extensive flooding and damage in Guadeloupe with homes and bridges affected.

Reports said the emergency services received more than 600 calls and carried out 130 interventions.

TS Fiona is expected to develop into a hurricane this weekend with Hurricane Watches in effect for the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
