The Minister of the Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and National Food Security, Hon. Fidel Grant, calls for Dominican farmers to form a representative body. He stated that discussion with the farmers at the Agri-Expo and Investment Forum, hosted by the Guyanese Government, has proven that the Dominican agriculture industry needs some structure to it.
He says although there are various crop associations in Dominica, there is an urgent need for a farmer’s association that will speak on behalf of the farmers of Dominica.
“Yes we have different crop associations, but there’s not a representative body speaking on behalf of farmers, and that is something we are discussing with the farmers. It is something that we need to look at urgently, because from there we will get the different expertise and different experience from the farmers to make a better policy as it pertain to agriculture,” the Agriculture Minister, Hon. Fidel Grant expressed.
