Dominica will face St. Vincent and the Grenadines in two international friendlies this week, as preparations continue for the CONCACAF League of Nations tournament which gets underway in June.

The first friendly will be played on Thursday 12th May from 3pm at Windsor Park while the second friendly will be played on Sunday 15th May from 3pm, also at Windsor Park.

Captain of the Senior Men’s Football Team, Briel Thomas says the team is confident and ready for tests ahead.

“Things are really going good. We are trying to work on a different style of play, a different brand of football in the country, that is possession football and we are going to use the opportunity against St. Vincent to show that we are ready for that kind of football,” the Captain of the Senior Men’s Football Team, Briel Thomas stated.

He said there is confidence and energy within the team ahead of the two friendlies.

“Well I could see the confidence and energy within the team, especially the senior players. So the experienced mixed with youth. we have some good additions coming in the team that will contribute good to the team.”

The National Team is coming off a high following the World Cup Qualifiers and the team is now preparing for the CONCACAF League of Nations.

Thomas says the team is ready for all 12 points in the CONCACAF League of Nations.

Meanwhile, Cheston Prosper who naturally plays on the left and right midfield will feature in the left back position for the national team. “Well since I’ve been in the national setup coach (Rajesh Latchoo) introduced me to playing Right Back and Left Back, I’m kind of both footed so I find adapting to it is kind of easy.”

He further says the Dominica team is ready for the upcoming games.

“Well so far it’s been going good and I believe that the team looks fit and ready for the two friendlies coming up and the competitive games that we have in the future, so I believe we are ready,” he said.

Prosper says he intends to bring a fighting spirit to the team.

Dominica will feature in Group C of League C in the CONCACAF Nations League.

They will come up against Anguilla on June 02nd and June 05th, and St. Lucia on June 09th.

This is the second edition of the competition and it will kick off during the FIFA Match Window of June 2022 with 68 group stage matches, followed by 34 in March of 2023.
