The Ministry of Health seeks to target a minimum of 30,000 vaccinated citizens by the end of 2022. As of Tuesday 30th November, 26,852 persons were fully vaccinated.
Speaking recently, Head of the Vaccination Coordination Unit, Dr. Keevian Burnette, stated that he is encouraged by the increase in vaccinated people on the island, adding that the Health Ministry aims for a minimum of 30,000.
Dr. Burnette stated, ‘For the first time doses for our target we have about 54 percent, we need to get 53, 281, in Dominica vaccinated and for our second doses we have 50 percent, it was my aim of hope to get at least 30,000 persons vaccinated by December 30th, so we still have a fighting chance.’
He stated that he is hopeful that the Health Ministry can reach this goal by the end of the year.
Dr. Keevian Burnette ended by stating that, ‘We feel optimistic about it happening because as I said persons are getting interested, not only for their health and safety reasons, but a lot of persons want to travel, and we all know right now that if you’re not vaccinated you cannot enter certain countries so that in itself is pushing the mandate.’
