Parliament has approved a measure that will facilitate the extension of the temporary reduction of fees for the processing and transferring of land.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Roosevelt Skerrit introduced a property tax as part of his 2020/2021 Budget.
Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency Hon. Denise Charles says the amendment will be up to October 31st, 2022.
Hon. Charles stated that the reduction of these fees expires on October 31st, 2021. She noted that the general public approved the measure.
She continued saying, ‘We saw a significant increase in the number of land transfers since its implementation, and many people requested an extension of time, as they were unable to process their titles within the one year and wanted to benefit from this commendable decision of the government.
Hon Charles said that the general public approved the amendments to the Title Registration Act.
