Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has affirmed that the nomination of Former Ambassador Dr. Vince Henderson falls in line with the laws of Dominica.

Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, Lennox Linton, recently wrote to the Chief of Police, Daniel Carbon, seeking an immediate investigation into the Dominica Labor Party candidate’s nomination.

According to Mr. Linton, the DLP nominee violates Dominica’s constitution and electoral law that prohibits anyone in the public service or in a position of compensation in service to the state from being accepted to run in any election on nomination day.

Speaking this, however, Prime Minister Skerrit stated that there are zero violations of Dominica laws regarding the nomination of Dr. Henderson.

Hon. Skerrit stated, “the reality is I can say to the Dominican people without any fear of contradiction that Dr. Henderson was nominated duly as a candidate for the Dominica Labor Party in the Grand Bay by-election and, complete conformity with the constitution with the provisions of our laws.”
