The Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) has announced plans for calypso 2022.

Public Relations Officer for the Dominica Calypso Association, Emmanuel “Haxey” Salamat told DA Vibes, Carnival or not, there will be calypso.

“There will be calypso regardless of whether there is carnival or not.”

“Like last season there will be calypso, however, we must take into consideration the government’s stance on such things and take our lead from there,” he stated.

Salamat said the DCA is looking forward to having a hybrid system for the 2022 season that will be based on a virtual basis.

“We have a great project leader in Mr. Narine “Trendsetter” Murphy and I can guarantee you that whatever form we roll out for the season, it will be in the great quality that is always expected from the Dominica Calypso Association.”

“Suffice to say there will be calypso this coming season and it has already started with Mass Camp.”

Salamat said, “The Dominica Calypso has always delivered.”

Daryl Bobb is the reigning Virtual Calypso King and will be looking to defend his title in 2022.

The reigning Calypso Monarch of Dominica however, is Jude ‘Jaydee’ Delauney. He won the 2020 title with his song “Doh Complain”
