President of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association, Peter Ricketts says a restart and oversight committee will be implemented as part of understanding the realities affecting different teams and communities across the island. He confirmed that Sylvester Jno Baptiste of the Red Cross will be the official COVID-19 for this committee to ensure that all protocols are followed.

Ricketts continued that each team is accountable for providing its COVID-19 plan to guarantee athletes’ safety. He added that assessment tools will be provided in doing so, each team also has to prepare their COVID-19 plan, to show that they are prepared to take and implement the measures to keep their athletes safe.

Ricketts added that a preparation camp was held in training for the Junior PANAM Games scheduled for November 28th to 30th in Cali, Columbia which all team members were fully vaccinated and presented a valid antigen test before the commencement of each weekly camp.

Peter Ricketts then appealed to other athletes who may have concerns about getting vaccinated, and they should get vaccinated as there have been no occurrences within the preparation camp.
