The Association of Fuel Retailers in Dominica has advised the general public that they will resume operations from today September 6, 2021.
According to a press release from the Association of Fuel Retailers, “this is to give the Government additional time to resolve the issues of the industry.”
The fuel retailers of Dominica indicated that they have noted the revised SRO 26 effective September 6, 2021, extending opening hours of businesses and gas stations which they said will, in small part, assist in fuel volume recovery.
“Gas Stations will now open daily from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.”
However, the Association of Fuel Retailers in Dominica says further in its press release that “this will not alleviate the present issue of losses being sustained in this industry due to the present model being used to determine price and margins.”
It says further that “this needs to be revised if the sector is to survive.”
The association assured that it will continue to press upon the Ministry of Trade that some members are also facing an additional crisis of fuel supply from September 12, 2021, onwards.
It notes that this also requires urgent attention to avert any further disruptions in this critical sector.
The Association took the opportunity to commend the public for their patience.
