Government to invests heavily in building robust water systems island wide

The Government of Dominica continues to invest heavily in an effort to build robust water systems across the island.

Currently, phase one (1) of the water sector strategic development plan is nearing completion while phase two (2) of this plan will see major upgrades.

Minister responsible for Public Works, Cassani Laville has said that “Phase two of this plan will see upgrades to the West Coast, East Coast, Roseau Valley, Calibishie Water Systems and the construction of new water sanitization systems for Jimmit.”

He pointed out that the construction of these systems and networks are scheduled to commence by the end of this year.

“Current investments in excess of $51M are being made towards the upgrade of Water Area 1; the rehabilitation of Bagatelle Water Supply, the development of the Morne Prosper Water Supply, and the installation of PV Power Supply at Tete Morne and Jimmit Pump Stations respectively,” he concluded.
