Dominica has recorded its first murder for 2021.
One male adult is currently in police custody and being questioned in relation to the death of an 86-year-old woman from Grand Bay, residing in Woodford Hill.
Police Inspector, John Carbon said, “The police is conducting investigations into a homicide which occurred in the village of Woodford Hill on Thursday, January 7, 2021.”
Bernadette Nicholas, female 86 years of Grand Bay residing at Woodford Hill, was found lying in a pool of blood at her house about 8:15 PM on the said day, according to Inspector Carbon.
“She was transported to the Wesley Health Center where she was examined by the medical doctor and was pronounced dead,” Carbon noted. “She sustained multiple stab wounds to her body,” he added.
The body of Bernadette Nicholas was transported to the North Eastern Funeral Home pending a post-mortem.
Police Inspector, John Carbon added that one male is presently in police custody and is being questioned in relation to Bernadette’s death.
