Minister for Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, Denise Charles says her Ministry is delighted at the recognition from National Geographic Traveller UK who placed Dominica top of the “Best of the World 2021” list for adventure.

The list is compiled by the National Geographic Traveller (UK) in collaboration with its 16 local language counterparts of National Geographic Traveller.

The list highlights destinations for future travel in five categories – Sustainability, Nature & Wildlife, Adventure, Culture & History, and Family Travel.

“We are very elated that our beautiful and safe haven Dominica has been bestowed this accolade by National Geographic Traveller U.K based on reviews and experiences by travelers,” the Minister said.

Charles noted this is an important milestone for Dominica especially as travelers are looking for safer and extraordinary locations to visit.

National Geographic has been in existence for over 130 years and its publications reach people in 170 countries and 43 languages every month.

“This is also a testament of our breath-taking natural sites, the sterling leadership and focus of our government on being the first climate-resilient nation, and of course our warmth as a people,” she said.

Now in order for us to continue to receive these accolades we have to ensure that we exceed visitor’s expectations on entry to exit. All hands must be on deck to make this happen. Tourism is my business, has to be your business, and remains everybody’s business.”
