Dominica has recorded five (5) new cases of COVID-19 since its last briefing.

National Epidemiologist, Dr. Shalauddin Ahmed indicated that during that period, six individuals had been discharged from the COVID-19 facility leaving the total active number of cases at 27.

“Four of the last five COVID cases are imported ones and one is a contact of an imported case,” Dr. Ahmed informed.

He said, “they are between the ages of 20 to 56 years old, three females and two males. All five cases are asymptomatic and they do not have any chronic medical conditions.”

Dr. Ahmed informed that contact tracing is ongoing.

“So far, all except one is negative,” he stated.
