The Ministry of Education says it is satisfied with the developments within the schools thus far.

However, there is continued encouragement towards parents and students to follow the necessary guidelines and protocols set by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Chandler Hyacinth says the ministry is seeking to enforce social distancing, frequent hand washing and use of the mask.

“So far we are operating normally, we are operating well, we still have a few challenges, mainly in the use of the masks, we want to use this medium to encourage the parents at home to encourage the students to wear their masks, we still have issues with social distancing in that we still find students still want to play to involve hugging and touching and sharing,” Hyacinth said.

She added, “This is a new environment for us, we still have issues with that but generally we are coping as we try to enforce mainly social distancing, frequent hand washing, and the use of the mask, those are the 3 main things that we are enforcing to mitigate the spread of Covid.

Thank God that we have not had any Covid community spread and where we have issues we are dealing with them on a one-on-one basis,” Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Chandler Hyacinth noted.
