A national committee is in place as arrangements continue for construction of an international airport here in Dominica.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced that he has since added a list of representatives to sit on the committee.
“I have since added representatives from DAIC and the DHTA to sit on the committee and also DOMLEC and DOWASCO and we also have an experienced former pilot on the committee,” he noted.
He added, “Every effort is being made. We are continuing our negotiations with property owners to settling a mutually acceptable price for their lands and properties….somebody called earlier and asked whether land could be given to him in exchange for lands that the government is acquiring for the airport, the answer to that is yes. We are in fact swapping land for land in many instances based on the request of the property owner.”
