Traffic congestion continues to be a major issue in Dominica with limited parking space in the city to the heavy bumper to bumper traffic in the mornings.
This is largely due to the high influx of vehicles currently on island.
According to former Police Officer, Ainsworth Irish, as of August 31st, 2020, there are 37,815 registered vehicles on island with over 70 coming into Dominica every month.
“Roseau is the same square feet Roseau has been. So in 1990 you had 13,900 vehicles; in 2012 it increased to almost more than double, 24,461 vehicles; In 2015 you had 27,500 vehicles, 2017 about 800 were scrapped because of the hurricane; and as of august 31st 2020, you have 37,815 vehicles registered in Dominica,” Ainsworth Irish said.
