The Government of Dominica and tourism stakeholders are to meet this week to hold further discussions for allowing cruise lines to return to the island’s shores.
Prime Minister Skerrit indicated that the cruise lines have mentioned their interests in coming back to Dominica.
He says discussions with the cruise lines are also ongoing.
“The cruise ships have indicated that they want to come back. We’re having discussions with them,” he said.
“I believe that if we can find a very safe way of allowing cruise to come back, we should allow it.”
“We’re discussing this with the cruise lines, I believe there was a first meeting between the ministry of tourism. There will be a subsequent meeting this week to see if we can further the discussions,” PM Skerrit noted.
He said once there is an understanding the public will be informed and appreciate the discussions in terms of allowing cruise ship passengers to come into Dominica.
