Deputy Prime Minister Reginald Austrie, Minister of the Environment, Climate Resilience, Disaster Management and Urban Renewal – Joseph Isaac, officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Ports, and a few other individuals are currently touring areas affected by yesterday’s rain.
According to Mr. Austrie, they are “looking at the effects of what happened and some of the solutions to it”.
Heavy rainfall caused flooding in a number of areas in the northern part of the island and reports indicate that some persons had to be rescued. Access was also cut of by landslides.
Mr. Austrie expressed gratitude to the team with whom he was touring thanking them for taking time from their busy Sunday schedules to come have a look and evaluate the situation.
“I know that when they go home and they review the visit, we will be advised properly as to what needs to be done in the short term and also in the medium term,” he stated.
