Stewart Paris whose cocoa placed in the top 18 of an international chocolate competition has said his farm has been destroyed.

In an interview with Dominica Vibes on Tuesday 5 December, 2017 Mr. Paris said due to his participation and success at the Cocoa of Excellent Programme, there is a demand for his product.

“Because of the results of the competition I have international people trying to contact me now for cocoa beans from the same field I supplied the sample from because they want the quality,” he said continuing, “because the hurricane has flatten our field this point in time we cannot supply any beans.”

He explained that it will be about one year before he will be able to once again supply buyers with beans from his field.

However he remains optimistic that help will come saying, “I hope that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Minister of Agriculture and everybody that have anything to do with agriculture and cocoa can hear my voice and come to our rescue and help us to rehabilitate our field and get back on stream so we can put Dominica on the map again.”
