The government of Dominica will hold a national consultation focused solely on Agriculture as they aim to develop a national plan to revive the agriculture sector.
This was announced by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, who was speaking at the daily press briefing held on Thursday October 13th 2017.According to Skerrit, local farmers and experts as well as agricultural partners outside of Dominica will be present.
“In the next two weeks, we shall hold a national consultation on Agriculture, bringing all stakeholders and many farmers together. It will be a wide cross section of consultation of our regional and international partners, our local agricultural experts to discuss agriculture,” he stated.
The government he said has multiple suggestions that will be announced at the consultation, so that they can receive responses from those present “that at the end of the day we can come up with a national strategy that will help with the resuscitation of the Agricultural sector.”
At a press briefing on Friday October 6, 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture announced a ‘Grow to Eat’ programme; a response to food security for the country post Hurricane Maria.
