Reigning Miss Teen Dominica, Kyana Dyer is satisfied with the Best Talent award from the 2019 Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant.
The pageant was held in St. Kitts on Monday 30th December 2019.
Dyer said during an interview with Dominica Vibes that, though preparations were somewhat tough, she feels her award is very significant in respect to the title of the pageant.
She further noted that her hard work was not in vain.
‘To be honest I thought I would have captured more titles, but since its a Talented Teen Competition, capturing Best Talent is fine by me,” Dyer conveyed.
She continued, “I had just about a month to get ready for the show, even though I knew about it since February 2019 following capturing the title of Miss Teen Dominica. I had about a month of steady, intense practices in order to be ready for the show. There were only two days off, and even with the days off, I still had practice but with less hours. I don’t mind having practice everyday, it was tiring but I wanted the crown so why not have practices in order to get that crown?”
A fifth form student involved in several curricular activities at the Convent High School, Dyer says that she developed patience and time management which came in handy to balance her pageantry and education.
” Studying for exams, my break would be practicing my speech. My speech changed several times and I had to learn three speeches for that one segment [theatrical wear/ambassadorial wear],” Dyer said.
The 2019 Miss Caribbean Talented Teen title was captured by Kersandra Edwards of St. Lucia.
First Runner up was awarded to Miss St. Maarten, while Miss USVI came in at 2nd runner up.
