A condensed version of the Swinging Stars Band will perform for the first time at the 2018 staging of the Jazz ‘n Creole Festival.
The Jazz ‘n Creole Festival will be hosted at Fort Shirley on Sunday 20 May and will be headlined by Dominica’s Princess of Song, Michelle Henderson, and Trinidadian string duo, Xavier Strings.
The Stars Band, which includes members of the Swinging Stars Band, has been included in the line-up of performers at the festival.
“This 2018 is our very first time performing at the Jazz ‘n Creole and we’re very thankful and grateful for you all to invite us on this beautiful journey that we’re about to embark,” Stars Band member, Tasha Peltier said.
Peltier, who addressed the weekly Jazz ‘n Creole Festival press conference on Wednesday 9 May, said patrons can expect “a very, very diverse repertoire” that everybody will enjoy and “will not be disappointed”.
Stars Band compromises of “a very small section of the Swinging Stars Band, so it’s not everybody that you’re accustomed of seeing,” she indicated.
“It’s a very small combo put together that comprises of Cameron Douglas on the saxophone, Chester Letang that’s Daddy Chess, and Tasha Peltier on lead vocals, and we’ll also be having a surprise artiste so look out for that,” Peltier stated.
Peltier implored all to come out “in large numbers” and enjoy “some wonderful, wonderful atmosphere and beautiful music that we will be putting on for you guys”.
“We encourage everybody to bring their children because this is also a family event…and we will be looking forward to perform for everybody and just come on down and have some fun,” Peltier added.
