Although budgetary concerns has forced alterations to be made to this year’s Jazz ‘n Creole Festival, some fringe events leading up to the main stage event have been announced.
Acting Festivals and Events Manager, Marva Williams, confirmed the fringe events during the Dominica’s Festival’s Committee weekly press conference on Wednesday 2 May 2018.
“So another important aspect of the Jazz ‘n Creole 2018 is the fringe events, and we have to acknowledge in a big way the support of the private sector in that aspect,” Williams stated.
The fringe events will commence on Sunday 13 May 2018 at the Atlantique Hotel and Spa in Anse-de-Mai with a Mother’s Day Brunch and Persuasion at Clara House in Picard, Portsmouth.
This will be followed by a Cultural Explosion and Sip and Paint at the Old Mill Cultural Center in Canefield on 17 May to coincide with DOMFESTA celebrations.
Jazz on the Boardwalk at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau and Jazz on a Grill at Tulip Outback Bar and Grill in Picard, Portsmouth on Friday 11 May and Jazz on the Beach in Portsmouth on Saturday 19 May will be the final fringe event.
Jazz ‘n Creole Festival is a festive fusion of Jazz Music with Creole Music, Food, and Culture. The Jazz ‘n Creole main stage event will be hosted on Sunday 20 May at Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park from 2PM.
Trinidadian string sensation Xavier Strings and Dominica’s Princess of song Michele Henderson will headline the festival, in addition to performances from Xtasy Band, Pan Harmony, and Stars, among others.
Tickets cost seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per person and can be purchased at the Dominica Festivals Committee’s office and Bulls Eye Pharmacy.
