Two enterprising young Dominican leaders, Tridel Edwin and Sapphire Vital, have been accepted as ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Movement 2020 Summit of the OECS Commission.
SDM ambassadors are responsible for growing the network of movers for the SDM 2020 summit while planning and implementing local programmes geared towards spreading awareness about the sustainable development goals and facilitating discussion forums that will unearth innovative solutions that are positioned to accelerate the glorious come-back of Small Island Development States (SIDS).
The OECS Commission says a total of 70 applications were received and after the implementation of a rigorous selection and due diligence process, the decision was made to engage 21 emerging leaders to serve as sustainable development movement ambassadors.
They will participate in the sustainable development movement summit – a space where senior government officials, industry and private sector leaders, global entrepreneurs and civil society will converge over two days.
Their objective is to network, experience real transformation and chime in on the exchange of thoughts, best practices, untold stories and strategies concerning sustainable growth and development within the Caribbean.
Over 20,000 persons around the world have registered their interest in the summit 2020 which is scheduled for September in St Lucia.
Tridel Edwin has made his mark in Dominica as co-founder and owner of 365 MMP, an artist manager and photographer.
Sapphire Vital is an environmental change and management expert and works as a Sustainable Infrastructure Specialist.
