Four parties have shown interest in utilizing government owned facility Ross University Campus to operate a medical school in Dominica.
This was revealed by Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit yesterday while on construction site visit to hotels in the north.
Ross University left in Dominica in August to commence operations in Barbados in January 2019.
“Some of the parties have already sent in proposals for consideration by the government for setting up a school here. It will not only be a medical school it will also provide additional programs,” Mr. Skerrit said.
Mr. Skerrit said the first interested party will visit next week to engage the government and the landlord to ascertain the various aspect and conditions that will satisfy them.
Mr. Skerrit said he has appointed a task force to engage the interested parties.
“The task force will be led by Dr. Grell who has a long history in medicine and academia, Dr. Peters who also has a vast knowledge on different areas, property owners in Portsmouth, Public Officers and a Representative from the Ministry of Health will also make up the task force,” Mr. Skerrit noted.
