Featured Speaker for the 2018 Lead Institute Graduation ceremony, Dr. Tricia Lewis has urged the graduating class to find their passion when choosing a career path.

She made that statement while addressing the graduation ceremony held last Friday, August 17th 2018, where seventeen students said goodbye to the institution.

Dr. Lewis told the students that they must now focus on their dreams and move towards achieving their goals.

“You must first realize your dreams, secondly find the path to fulfilling these dreams, and finally move towards your dreams with confidence,” Dr. Lewis stated.

She went on to note that graduating from tertiary institution is “one of the most important milestones in your lives,” describing it as the time to “decide if you want to continue with an education or to get a job.”

“For many of you, you will be leaving the homes of your families and friends, for many of you, you will decide now what the next step in your career is,” she stated.

She noted that to fulfill their dreams, “they must embrace their passion and use it to guide them to their goals.”

“In order to identify your dreams you must embrace your purpose, your passion, what it is that you are good at doing.  your passion, your purpose is found in one thing that you can do better than anybody else, I urge you to search deep within you, ask questions and return with one thing that you are good at, seek ways at getting better until you are the best, follow your dreams,” Lewis went on to note.

Dr. Lewis further told the graduates that following their passion will bring them joy, going on to advise them against letting persons discourage them from chasing their dreams.

She noted that “discovering your purpose and finding your career is not only about the financial benefit or of the perceptions of others, but it must also bring you joy,” going on to add that “your joy will come when you are doing what you absolutely love.”

“When you have so many responsibilities, when you feel that the weight of the world is on your shoulder, and when you feel like giving up, it is then that you must remember that dreams do not work unless that you do,” she stated.

“And it is then that your passion, your purpose, in what you absolutely love to do will drive you, there will be hard times of course, there will be discouragement, but never and I repeat, never give up,” Dr. Lewis added.
