(Press Release) The College and Institutes of Canada (CICan) has extended support to the Faculty of the Applied Arts and Technology of the Dominica State College (DSC) in the areas of training, tools and equipment costing over eighty thousand Eastern Caribbean Dollars ($80,000.00 EC).
The support provided by this institution was channeled through Algonquin College in Canada. Two carpenters, who are current technicians at Algonquin College, have been attached to the DSC for two weeks to facilitate the training of Architectural, Building and Civil Engineering Students.
The outcome of the training is the erection of a Poultry House built to reflect proper building standards. It is expected that the Poultry Facility will benefit the agriculture students in practical poultry production.
President of the College Dr Donald Peters has expressed his sincere appreciation to the Canadian institutions for their continued interest and support of our Agricultural program which is a significant investment in preparing young farmers to lead our agricultural industry of the future.
Dr Peters also gave special recognition to the dedicated lectures and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology for their dedicated service to the mission of our college and who has been working side by side with the Canadians on all our partnership projects.
CICan is financed by the Government of Canada and can be described as the national, voluntary membership organization representing publicly supported colleges, institute, cegeps and poly technics in Canada and internationally.
