Member of Parliament (MP) for the Roseau Central Constituency, Joseph Isaac will join the Melissa Skerrit Foundation to award scholarships to students from the constituency.
In making the announcement, Minister Isaac revealed that ten academic scholarships, ten sports scholarships, and ten scholarships based on need will be awarded through the Roseau Central Scholarship Program.
According to the Minister, “this is a program not within the government system but just imagine it will be a reality from next week”.
The Melissa Skerrit Foundation, established in December 2016, aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged persons in society.
Among the Foundation’s initiatives are the ‘Elderly Love Care’ program, through which elderlies were provided with medication and food and supplies; the ‘Bless A Baby’ program through which mothers were provided with basic necessity for babies, like milk, pampers, wipes and food; and the ‘Back To School’ scholarship program for children, as well as care packages with supplies for school.
It also includes a School Feeding Program for primary school students and an Adopt a Child Back to School Program through which preschool, primary, secondary and college students are given school supplies and scholarships.
