The new structure which will house the Paix Bouche Primary School is nearing completion, according to Member of Parliament for the Paix Bouche Constituency Roselyn Paul.
Paul made this statement while contributing to the post budget debate at Parliament on Monday 30 July 2018.
The school was one of many damaged as a result of Hurricane Maria last September. All Hands and Hearts came on board and contributed to the school’s reconstruction. They are using a donation from Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) Emergency Response Philanthropic Fund to rebuild the school according to their Facebook Page.
“We have been very, very fortunate; the Paix Bouche Primary School we are going to get more or less a brand new school in its last phase of completion,” she said.
All the walls of the school was demolished for the new structure to be built.
“It is also being built to serve as a hurricane shelter so we have a better school and not only the school everything on the school ground is brand new.”
The Pre-school was also demolished and rebuilt she added.
“So when you go to Paix Bouche school grounds you just see great development.”
She expressed her “heartfelt thanks” to Hands and Heart adding that because of the number of volunteers in Paix Bouche “the economy has been really turning”.
With about sixty persons working on the project, for which they had only three months to finish, she said those who do laundry, catering and have shops in the area are thriving.
