“At the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, we believe in the research which concludes that well prepared teachers produce higher student achievement and are more likely to remain in teaching.”
The educators who took part in the two day workshop engaged in sessions on Principles of Adult Learning, Language Modeling, Curriculum Standards, Critical Thinking and Effective Questioning, Assessment Framework, Improving Classroom Management Practices by Enhancing the Instructional Process, Differentiated Instruction and Using Technology to Enhance Learning.
During the upcoming school year, these trained teachers are expected to train their colleagues at their respective schools and at the district level.
Fontaine added, “We are therefore committed to increase our trained teacher workforce through formal training and continuous professional development. We understand the need for a structured and integrated approach to achieving that increase and we will continue to work with and seek partnerships that are relevant.”
