The Roosevelt Douglas Primary School is the new champions of Primary Schools football.
The boys from the north defeated the St. Mary’s Primary 7 goals to 1 in an exciting final at the Windsor Park Stadium on Wednesday, 25th April, 2018.
The match, which was viewed by a large and appreciative crowd with support for both schools, produced action from start to finish and kept the large crowd at the stadium on their toes.
Atkinson/Lighthouse Academy defeated Calibishie Primary 3 – 2 on penalty kicks.
The 2018 Primary Schools Football Championship was organized by the Sports Division and supported by Sport Aid Dominica.
It commenced on February 23rd and featured 34 schools.
In the Semi Finals, which took place on Tuesday 10th April at the Benjamin’s Park, the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School and the St. Mary’s Primary School emerged the Finalists after winning their matches.
The Roosevelt Douglas Primary School won its match against the Atkinson/LightHouse Combined Team – 8:1 whilst the other semi-final match was won on penalty kicks by the St. Mary’s Primary against the Calibishie Primary School. Both schools were tied 2:2 after the game had gone into over-time – the St. Mary’s Primary School won on penalty kicks – 3:2.
The Grand Fond Primary School won the 2017 Championship.
