Catholic schools of all levels in Roseau are set to open by Monday, November 6th, 2017 for the first time since Hurricane Maria.
Bishop of the Diocese of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire, who was speaking during an interview on Vibes Radio, stated that one school was used as a shelter after the hurricane, but have since been emptied out.
The Convent High School, Convent Preparatory School, the Saint Martin Primary and Secondary Schools, the Saint Mary’s Primary and Saint Mary’s Academy the Catholic Schools in Roseau.
Meanwhile Bishop Malzaire said no discussions have been held on a change in school fees for these schools explaining, “I have not had a meeting with the school boards, or the principals, and we have right now a new superintendent for all the Catholic Schools. These are some of the discussions that they will have and then bring to the Bishop and we will look at it and see what is possible. But these discussions, we have not even ventured into.”
Third to fifth form students of the Convent High School and St. Martin Secondary have already commenced classes.
