The reopening of school which was scheduled for Monday, October 16th, 2017 has been postponed due to the inclement weather.
Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, stated at the daily press briefing on Monday, that the reopening of school would have been a positive step for the island following Hurricane Maria.
“Today we had planned on reopening many, many schools, but the weather has hampered that effort. Schools were geared to reopen today, because that would have been a very positive sign, a positive happening to getting our children back into school, back into the learning groove, and continue to prepare themselves for external and internal examinations,” Mr. Skerrit stated.
He urged the public to listen to the radio for updates from the Ministry of Education in relation to the reopening of school.
“So we are waiting to see how the weather pans out tomorrow and further announcement will be made by the Ministry of Education later this evening on the reopening of school tomorrow or later in the week. So please stay tuned for updates from the Ministry,” he stated.
