Preparations are underway for the staging of the National Schools Arts Festival at the Arawak House of Culture from March 22-28, 2017.
The festival which takes place every two years is organized by the Cultural Division in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.
The festival will feature presentations by primary and secondary schools in Art, Drama, Dance, Music Ensemble, Choral Speech, Vocal Solo and Choral Music.
Seventeen (17) primary schools and nine (9)secondary schools are down to participate in this year’s festival.
The festival programme is as follows:
Wednesday March 22 – 9:30am: Instrumental Ensembles and Choral Speech.
Thursday March 23 – 9:30am: Vocal solo and Choral music
Friday March 24 – 9:30am: Dance
Tuesday March 28 – 9:30am: Drama
In addition, there will be an art exhibition at the foyer of the Arawak House of Culture for the duration of the festival. All performances and exhibits will be judged. Gold, silver and bronze awards will be issued as appropriate.
The festival provides a focal point for the presentation of artistic works and the showcasing of talent of students of primary and secondary schools.
