The Nature Island Literary Festival (NILF) & Book Fair Committee will host its annual Children’s Workshop on Saturday August 1, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Roseau Public Library on Victoria Street.
This free Workshop will feature story telling, arts & crafts projects and the use of digital media to encourage students aged 5 to 12 to enjoy leisure reading.
Children’s Workshop Coordinator and NILF PRO, Ms. Kimone Joseph said the Children’s Workshop in Roseau is the culmination of a successful programme for the academic year.
“Over the past year, one of the mandates of the Literary Festival Committee was to introduce the Children’s Workshop to other parts of the country,” Joseph said. “We had sucessful programes for the children of the South-East, Portsmouth, Grandbay and Kalinago Territory. So, this final one in Roseau for this academic year will be a grand finale and coming full circle back to where the Children’s Workshop first began.”
According to Joseph, a new addition to the Workshop will be the Children’s Book Fair.
“Much like the main Book Fair at the UWI Open Campus, we decided to have a Book Fair at the Children’s Workshop. So, in addition to the free activities, parents and children will be able to purchase new and used books right there on the grounds of the Library,” she said. “We really want children to be excited about reading. So, the day’s activities will be geared towards ensuruing that we have a programme that the studnets will enjoy.”
The Children’s Workshop is sponsored by J. Astaphans & Co Ltd., Fine Foods Inc., and Argos Dominica Ltd. For more information and to register, please click here.
