Dominica’s premier music festival continues to attract thousands of patrons Benoit Bardouille, Chairman of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) said.
At a ceremony on Wednesday August 29 2017, which saw the signing of the partnership between the DDA and Digicel for the staging of the twentieth edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), Bardouille said the festival continues to attract not only locals and returning patrons but growing interests from visitors and world renowned artists with what he described as a “spectacular showcase of creole culture and music which can only be presented on the nature island of the Caribbean, Dominica”.
Bardouille said partnerships such as the one with Digicel extend the festival’s reach not only due to their financial contribution but the audience the brand attracts.
“Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival’s brand continues to grow in regional and international recognition and prestige. Recently being touted in the international media market place, most recently by USA Today as one of the Caribbean’s Top Music Festivals,” he said.
Bardouille revealed that in 2016 the WCMF attracted over six thousand five hundred visitors to Dominica and over ten thousand patrons into the festival city each night.
This he said “is testament to its brand power”.
Bardouille said this year, as the festival celebrates twenty years, further growth is expected.
DDA has embarked on promotions across the region, online and in the international market.
