Restrictions on Movement and Gatherings in Effect Until April 20

Nighttime and weekend lockdowns, a limit to the number and placement of bus passengers, and the suspension of liquor licenses are among restrictions outlined in the amended Statutory Rules and Order No. 15 of 2020 which came into effect yesterday April first as measures to contain and manage the number coronavirus cases on island.

SRO No 15, signed by His Excellency, the President Of Dominica, Charles Savarin, is also called the Emergency Powers (Curfew) Order, 2020.

The order states that for 20 days – until April 20th, no one should be out in public places between the nighttime hours of 6pm and 6am on weekdays.

In the daylight hours between 6am and 6pm persons are allowed out only to provide or access essential services.

On the weekends, no one is allowed to be in public places from 6pm on Fridays until 6am on Mondays except for essential services.

Restrictions are outlined specifically for Easter weekend. From 6pm on Thursday, April 9th until 6am Tuesday, April 14th, no one should be out in public places.

Persons can be exempted from those guidelines if they possess written authorisation from the Police Commissioner.
