Europe’s oldest luxury hotel brand, Kempinksi has opened its first resort in the Caribbean in Dominica.
The hotel group has 76 properties around the world- all five-star elite fully-serviced residences that offer personalised, bespoke services tailored to guest requirements.
Last Saturday evening, the Cabrits Resort and Spa was officially opened.
The Hon Finance Minister, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit saw the occasion as a clear message to the international community.
“Dominica is well and truly opened for business and the influx of investment which has fuelled the dynamism is here because this Government went out and shared it vision with the world.
“There is no bigger statement to make than the one which we are making today with the opening of this five-star resort: that Dominica is the new destination of choice, that Dominica is resilient; that Dominica is being transformed,” he said.
The hotel developers, Range Developments is jointly directed by partners Mohammed Asaria and Kemal Shehada.
Shehada was represented by his daughter, Rasha Shehada. She spoke of her pride to be a global and a CARICOM citizen.
She says the new resort is more than a construction project for her father.
“He believed that this project is not only about the concrete- don’t get me wrong; it is impressive and I love this place. It is one of the best places that I have ever seen but it’s beyond just the concrete walls and the architecture and design. It is the dreams that people actually managed to achieve through this Citizenship Programme. It’s families that united its people like me who have found this sense of belonging who felt for once that I am a real citizen of this land,” Shehada effused.
Mohammed Asaria, also managing director, in his remarks, described the event as a wonderful conclusion to a five-year journey.
“Today we congregate on the eve of our 41st birthday. First and foremost, we give thanks for what we have achieved over the past 41 years and ask for blessings for the future.”
Asaria continued, “I can think of no better way to celebrate t his milestone than through the opening of this hotel. One of the best in the Caribbean, the pearl of the Caribbean and it just shows that there is some merit to the old saying that life begins at 40.”
The Chief Operations Officer of the Americas Kempinski Hotels, Xavier Destribats also addressed the event proud of the newest addition to the Kempinski global collection of luxury residences.
The Cabrits Resort and Spa is a product of the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
