Kingston, Jamaica – Wednesday, September 5, 2018: The biggest party in sport has just eight more matches to go before we know who will be this year’s champion of the HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Digicel is ramping up the excitement for the upcoming semi-final and final game.
CPL is not called “the biggest party in sport” for nothing and for the semi-final match on Friday, September 14th, 2018, the King of Soca and Digicel Ambassador, Machel Montano, will grace the stage and have fans pumping to hits like “Soca Kingdom”, “Fast Wine” and “Like Ah Boss” in the Brian Lara Stadium. In St. Lucia, Digicel had local artistes like Gwan Movman, Ezra D Fun Machine and Lapo Kabwit among others performing, while Barbados brought to the stage a number of artistes including Jus D, Joaquim and Digicel ambassador Mickey.
Every year, Digicel and CPL goes for bigger and better. “Hero CPL is the biggest party in sport, and no one knows how to bring the party to life like Machel Montano. His performance at last year’s final was one of the highlights of the tournament and we are delighted to have him back at the Brian Lara Stadium to bring the semi-final match alive on 14th September”, said Damien O’Donohoe, CEO, Hero CPL.
This year, as the season winds up to the playoffs, semi-final and final matches in Providence Stadium in Guyana and the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago, fans are crowding the stands and tuning in live on PlayGo to catch all the excitement.
Three lucky PlayGo viewers, Travese Gardiner from Antigua and Barbuda, Kevon Small from Montserrat and Inshan Ali from Trinidad and Tobago, won a trip to watch the final on Sunday, September 16th, 2018 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Inshan Ali, the winner from Trinidad and Tobago was grateful to Digicel for the opportunity and is eagerly anticipating the game. “I’m very, very happy and excited and I can’t wait to go. I play cricket and I’m a cricket fan, cricket is my life. I even played alongside Brian Lara at the youth level. I’m looking forward to TKR [Trinbago Knight Riders] winning and the party – the party, the lime and the dancing. I always go and I always look forward to cricket”, said Ali.
Group Sponsorship Manager at Digicel, Tari Lovell said, “We always want to give our customers and fans of the sport the best possible experience, connecting them with great sporting moments, regardless of where they are. With PlayGo, fans across the Caribbean have been able to keep up with the CPL matches live using their smartphones or other mobile devices on-the-go. Now, having watched the games on PlayGo and won, the three winners and their guests will be there to catch the action live in the stands on September 16th.”
