(Press Release) Roseau Dominica – (August 9, 2018). A new event dubbed Reunion Hype will kick-start activities leading to the 20th Edition of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival, from October 26-28, 2018, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Roseau.
The WCMF Reunion Hype will be staged this Friday 10th August, 2018, at the newly established 5-Star Bar and Grill at Rodney’s Rock, just outside of Mahaut on Dominica’s west coast. The first of what is expected to be weekly pre-festival events will feature the Kings of Cadence, Midnight Groovers from Sout’ City, Grand Bay, with their unique and iconic brand of cadence-lypso music. The event will also feature local DJs, Mr. Mixx and DJ Sleem.
WCMF Reunion Hype is in celebration of the island’s 40th anniversary of independence and the rise of Dominica as a leader in world popular music particularly its Cadence and Bouyon rhythms that helped to create the biggest Creole music festival in the world.
The Reunion Hype which is a free event, is a production of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) with the support of the Nation’s Station, DBS Radio who will carry the event live between 8:00 p.m. and midnight on the weekly Friday night Creole show of veteran broadcaster, Leroy “Wadix” Charles.
Patrons attending Reunion Hype will have the opportunity to win tickets to this year’s festival and to meet friends as well as to be entertained by local acts at one of the popular entertainment spots.
