The ten finalists who will compete in the 2018 Cadence Lypso Competition have been announced.
The names were announced by the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) during a press conference on Monday 11 June 2018.
The show, which is organized annually by the NCCU, was cancelled last year due to the passage of Hurricane Maria.
It will however be held this year on November 2nd 2018 according to assistant events coordinator, Marcel Harrigan. A venue for the competition was not announced during Monday’s press conference.
Sixteen persons auditioned on Saturday 9 June 2018 and a group of six judges chose the finalists.
The ten finalists are Shirley Charles, Charles Leatham, Shermica Sorhaindo, Carsim Birmingham, Jude Delauney, Marisa Stedman, Desmond Lawrence, Rhamadine Phillip, Murphy Jno. Jules and Chris Sylvester.
In addition to the ten finalists, three reserves; Steve Williams, Royette Laurent and Ellis Serrant were selected “just in case,” Harrigan stated.
The finalists are obligated to submit a copy of the final version of the songs sang at the audition by 9 July 2018 or risk being replaced by one of the reserves.
“So finalists, please make a note of that. Your final copy with all changes should be submitted by July 9th. Failure to do so will result in a reserve replacing you on the night of the show,” Harrigan cautioned.
