All set for Jazz ‘n Creole

(Press Release) Roseau, Dominica – (May 16, 2018) – The stage is set for the 9th edition of Dominica’s Jazz ‘n Creole this weekend.

Activities for this week include DOMFESTA Explosion at the Old Mill Cultural Centre on May 17, Jazz on the Grill at Tulip Outback Bar ‘n Grill in Picard, Jazz on the Boardwalk at the Fort Young Hotel on May 18 and Jazz on the Beach at Purple Turtle Beach on May 19, 2017.

Jazz ‘n Creole tickets will be sold at these fringe events for only $60. Jazz ‘n Creole begins at 2 pm on May 20, 2018 at Fort Shirley.

Colin Piper, CEO and Director of Tourism at Discover Dominica Authority urged Jazz enthusiasts to patronize the various fringe events, participate in Staycation and visit sites and attractions in the north of the island.

Assistant Superintendent of Police John Carbon outlined plans for parking and traffic control on May 20.

Public parking will be from the intersection near the Tan Tan stretch, through Portsmouth, Glanvillia and Picard. There will be no parking on the Michael Douglas Boulevard from the Long House junction to Borough’s Square.

One lane parking only will be allowed on Harbour Lane, Bay Street and at Lagoon from the Lagoon Bridge to the roundabout at the Bell Hall junction. Designated public parking areas are at Whitchurch in Picard, Long House junction, Borough’s Square, Portsmouth Secondary School grounds, Lagoon Bridge, Moroccan hotel grounds, Round about at Bell Hall and along the Tan Tan stretch.

Parking at the Portsmouth Secondary School grounds will be paid parking as a fundraising event for the school. Official Jazz ‘n Creole shuttles will operate from all designated parking locations.

Digicel Dominica will showcase their services at the Digicel Experience Zone during Jazz ‘n Creole. Visitors to their booth will have the opportunity to learn about Digicel services and products, win prizes, recharge their phones, and obtain 50% discount on selected smartphones.

Patrons of Jazz ‘n Creole are encouraged to show their love for country through various creole themed outfits. The best dressed male and female patron will each win a ticket to the World Creole Music Festival carded for October 26, 27 and 28 2018.
