Digicel Dominica is prepared to help islands in the Caribbean affected by Hurricane Irma’s passage.
The category 5 hurricane ravaged islands in the Northern Caribbean chain Tuesday September 5 into Wednesday September 6 2016.
Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Dominica Nikima Royer-Jno Baptiste said in an interview on Vibes Radio Wednesday that the local team has already been mobilized to ensure relief efforts can be embarked upon once the all clear is given.
She said the company wishes to reciprocate the good will that was demonstrated on the company and Dominica with the past Tropical Storm Ericka in 2015.
“Our thoughts and our prayers are with our sister islands notating that Antigua would have received some impact Barbuda, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, St. Martin and right now we understand that Tortola, the USVI and the BVI are being impacted by the passing. So our thought and prayers continue to be with our family, our friends, our clients, our customers and the entire population of these islands as they continue going through these difficulties,” she added.
Royer-Jno Baptiste was thankful that Dominica was spared during the passage of Irma.
“Our network was not impacted and we continue to demonstrate our resilience throughout the stormy weather additionally last evening we made available ten dollars free credit to our prepaid customer who on local calls to ensure that they were able to stay in contact with friends and family. We are confident and prepared as can be, you know in these kind of circumstances you ensure that your plans are not static and they continue to evolve,” she said.
